DENTURES

Taking Excellent Care Of Your Smile

Missing teeth not only affect your appearance but also your oral and overall health. They alter your bite pressure and cause the adjacent teeth to move into the spaces left by them, which leads to serious orthodontic issues. Missing teeth also cause a bone recession in the jaw, which alters your physical appearance and makes you look old. Therefore, it becomes essential to replace missing teeth immediately.

Types of Dentures

Dentures are custom-made dental devices used to replace missing teeth. They consist of artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored base, which can be taken out and put back into your mouth as and when you please. They are fabricated in a dental laboratory using impressions of your mouth. There are two types of dentures:

  • Complete or Full Dentures

A full denture or complete denture is a removable dental device that is used to replace missing teeth when a patient has lost all the natural teeth on the upper or lower dental arch. It consists of two parts, the artificial teeth, and the acrylic denture base. The artificial teeth restore the natural teeth, their function, and their occlusion. The acrylic dental base acts as a foundation for artificial teeth and also restores the defected soft and hard tissues. It is gum- colored and fits snugly in the mouth.

  • Partial Dentures

Dental implants are titanium screws that are surgically positioned in the jawbone below the gums. An abutment attaches the dental implants to crowns or bridges that restore the tooth structure above the gum line. Dental implants have lucrative benefits that make you want to replace your missing teeth but not everybody is a good candidate for dental implants. To determine whether you are a good candidate to receive dental implant treatment, your dentist will look at a few factors:
    ● Require a non-invasive placement.● Restore chewing and speaking abilities.● Support the facial contour.● Decrease the risk of periodontal disease.● Prevent the adjacent teeth from shifting into the spaces left by missing teeth.● Cause zero stress on the jaw.
